Glass trap @ Tesla Berlin Feb 2007
Home

I started this project as part of a residency at Tesla in Berlin.  Here is a brief description of the concept used to guide the development of the work.

Working title – “glass trap” gravity and the Void
Artwork description
Peppers ghost 3D movie
This work is presented as an anaglyph (red/cyan) stereo film.  Filmed at night the work depicts Voyeuristic scenes of people’s intimate living spaces.

This work follows on from my interest about human perception and concepts about the lens and it is designed to give audience a unique feeling of placement in the scene.
The idea for this work first came about walking at night and looking though windows and the feeling of presence inside without seeing anyone there.

The selected houses and windows I am choosing for this work has one linking subject, this being an enveloping pull into a small space of light that is protruding into the darkness.

Because the film is taken in 3D the audience gets to experience this emotional link closer as the 3D format is one step closer to how we experience reality. Anaglyph stereo (red blue glasses) the film also has strong associations with childhood and first experiences of 3D and helps to make the experience a little more like a dream.

The sound is a recording of me breathing.
